Dr. Murphy is very fond of hypnotherapy and theraputic techniques that help people to help themselves; through the use of their own mind power. He has been involved with hypnosis since he was sixteen. Dr. Murphy has a strong background in Positive Programming Principles, and uses these principles through the hypnosis sessions.
Dr. Murphy understands how the mind creates reality and how it can be positively directed. He utilizes Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Neuro Stimulation Sound Therapy (NSST) singly or in combination to best provide support to his patrons. His conducted his first hypnosis sessions in 1962 after reading many books about hypnosis benefits and techniques, while in high school.
Dr. Murphy is known for his ability to assist his patrons in achieving deep trance states within 30 seconds following patron's permission to be hypnotized. He can hypnotize individuals within nine consecutive but different words, which only takes seconds. He also employs non-verbal techniques that induce deep states within three minutes. Dr. Murphy is proficient in standard long traditional relaxation hypnotherapy methods; however prefers to spend the session time working on the patron's issues than using the majority of time in relaxation exercise. Remember all hypnosis is Self-Hypnosis, patrons only use the suggestions given by their own powerful mind.

Dr. Donald R. Murphy, Founder of DReaM Hypnotherapy and DReaM Motivational Institute, has many years’ experience in working with individuals from all walks of life. In excess of thirty years he has served in multiple vocational capacities in behalf of developmentally challenged children and adults.
He has worked diligently with persons who suffer from attention deficit disorder, autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, mental retardation, other debilitating syndromes, and conditions.
In Western Colorado he worked 12 years directly with persons who had the above noted challenges. Within this time period he worked a few years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. During the above noted time period he supervised state of Colorado funded behavior management pilot programs which provided services to some of the most behavioral challenging teens and adults in Western Colorado. As a result of his dedication and abilities these pilot programs were determined extremely effective and successful. In an administrative position he additionally supervised large numbers of employees in assuring proper staffing, safety and quality of services.
Later the family moved to California where He served as Executive Director 11 years for an Adult Day Program in Alturas CA. Donald maintained full time employment while pursuing his education credentials. His Master of Arts Degree, major is in Human Relations.
He earned his Doctor Of Clinical Hypnotherapy through The National Board Of Professional & Ethical Standars, and Breyer State University http://www.breyerstate.com following life long study, extensive training and clinical research.
His doctoral dissertation was entitled The Incredible Power Of The Subconscious Mind. Focus of research and dissertation was on enabling persons with developmental challenges, and other impairments through the uses of Clinical Hypnotherapy, and Neuro Stimulation Sound Therapy.
Directly following his Ph.D. acquisition he extensively trained for one year under the direction of Neuro Scientist Dr. Dennis Maness, and became Board Certified in Hypno Plasticity and Neuro Stimulation Sound Therapy. He continues his studies in several high tech disciplines including Targeted Amino Acid Therapy, under the mentorship of Dr. Manness, and Dr. Anthony Mullen.
Dr. Murphy acquired NBPES Certified International Hypnosis Instructor status in May 2008. He will be offering training in which his students will become NBPES Certified Hypnotist's, Clinical Hypnotherapist, and Master Clinical Hypnotherapist. Since 1996 Donald has worked full time for Far Northern Regional Center as a Service Coordinator. In this position he works extensively in behalf of individuals with all of the above noted challenges.
(It should be noted that a cross over of expertise in EFT, NLP, Hypnotherapy and Neuro Stimulation Sound Therapy is not within the Service Coordinator authorization, however this background greatly assists in case management insight especially in prevention of crises situations).
FNRC Service Coordinators assist assigned persons and their family, to advocate and obtain appropriate services in an effort to improve their quality of life. FNRC services and supports allow persons with developmental disabilities to live productive and valued lives as welcomed members of their communities.

Dr. Murphy conducts therapy outside of his regional center employment hours. DReaM Motivational Institute provides therapy and consultation Tuesday thru Friday 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
He also serves as North Western United States Regional Manager for American Personal Development Centers. AMPDC provides a wide range of theraputic services.
